Some 10 local menswear and womenswear designers showcased their exquisite apparel collections at the just held inaugural edition of Kampala Fashion Week in Uganda.
Natasha Karugire, the Ugandan designer and daughter of the country’s former President Yoweri Museveni, presented her line named J&Kainembabazi. Made using chiffon and silk, the collection featured a yellow animal print adorned dress and an array of vibrantly coloured dresses with beaded necklines.
Accentuated with draping details, the white, black, red, yellow and blue coloured ensembles were decorated with bold African and floral prints. Crafted from leather, sheer and jersey fabrics, the featured pieces were asymmetrical skirts, blouses, jackets, raincoats and dresses.
The UK-based ethical fashion designer Jose Hendo showed a 30-piece collection. Made using tree bark derived cloth mixed with cotton, silk and denim, the line included jackets, trousers, coats, ruffled dresses and headpieces.
