Business worth Rs. 750 crore was generated and order queries of around Rs. 1,400 crore recorded at the 65th National Garment Fair held in Mumbai, recently according to the organizer sources.
Apart from local brands, some of the well-known apparel exporters also exhibited at the trade fair to enter the domestic market.
Organised by The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), the three-day fair noticed a good response from retailers, chain stores and e-commerce players. Even the organizers did not expect such a huge response in view of the continuous protests and strikes against GST. The fair was attended by around 48,000 visitors, who explored the latest collections of 822 exhibitors from the apparel manufacturing hubs of India. As usual, cotton-based fabric and bright colours dominated the event.
The CMAI has also announced dates for the 66th National Garment Fair, which will take place from January 29. However, the venue for the event is yet to be finalized, the association said.
