Over 300 self-employed women involved in textile weaving in Ligiribari village of Assam that has been declared as the state’s first model textile village with providing 80 families allotted handlooms under the chief minister’s rural development scheme. The announcement was made last week by the Member of Parliament from Jorhat Kamakhya Prasad Tasha keeping the focus on the quality product being produced.
In marketing the products produced by women will be done through online portals. A model textile village will be developed at Jhanji soon to make the region self-sufficient in these products, the official sources said.
