The Tamil Nadu State Government in deliberation with various apparel manufacturer has announced to provide a subsidy of Rs. 2.5 crores to set up a textile park in Salem.
The Government will either bear 50 per cent of the cost that will be used for the construction of roads, sewage treatment plant and captive power plant or offer subsidies worth Rs. 2.5 crores to the manufacturers. It is said that around 10 entrepreneurs is allowed to build a mini textile park in the region as the establishment of at least 10 work sheds in the textile park to get the subsidy.
Furthermore, the total investment in building construction and machinery should be double and the aim is to improve the lifestyle of handloom and powerloom weavers in the region.
The Director of Handloom and textiles will monitored the entire project and hold meetings with the manufacturers to take the plan forward.
