Polygenta Technologies, a leading producer of sustainable polyester yarn, has been granted a Class I certificate by Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This qualifies Polygenta’s environment-friendly, sustainable yarn for use in textile products for babies and toddlers, which include clothing, soft toys, bed linen, towels, etc, the company said in a statement.
The award of Class I certificate means that Polygenta yarn meets the human-ecological requirements of the standard established for baby articles, as well as the requirements set by REACH (European Certificate for Chemical Usage) and American standard for lead content in children’s article.
Maharashtra based Polygenta is the only textile manufacturer using the patented proprietary, environment-friendly ReNEW PET recycling process, using only post-consumer recycled bottles so as to maximise the environmental benefit realised, according to the company.
In addition to being Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, the ReNEW process used by Polygenta also fulfils US FDA requirements for use in food contact packaging.
