Online retailer, Flipkart, has roped in senior engineering director at Google, Peeyush Ranjan, who is likely to join in May in a key role, according to media reports.
Before working with Google, Ranjan had been VP Engineering at Motorola and VP of Product at Gogomo Inc, and had also worked with Microsoft and Infospace. Flipkart had hired engineering leader Punit Soni from Google last month, underlining a frenetic rush among the country’s fast-growing companies to tap into Silicon Valley for talent to bolster their technology fronts.
With technology emerging as the biggest battlefront for Indian e-commerce and software firms, leading companies such as Infosys and Flipkart have been scouting for engineers groomed in top US companies to acquire the domain edge they need to dominate rivals.
