Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will organise and host the ‘Malaysia Fashion Week’ (MFW) to be held at Kuala lumpur from October 17.
This will mark the first trade fashion event organised by the government agency in partnership with the private sector at an international level for the local fashion industry. The three pillars under the new MFW are the Malaysian Fashion Season, the Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week and FACIT, a trade exhibition. FACIT is abbreviation for Fashion, art, cosmetic, interior and textiles.
“In the government’s continuing effort to put Malaysia in the global fashion map, it is important that the country has a defined fashion agenda. A government and private sector collaboration is necessary and today we are pleased that MATRADE and STYLO International has signed an MoU to jointly organise the Malaysia Fashion Week and establish a segment within INTRADE call FACIT, the trade exhibition of this fashion week, organiser sources said
MATRADE is the national promotion agency of Malaysia and has 44 offices in major cities across all 4 continents. MATRADE connects Malaysian enterprises to world markets. STYLO International together with Mercedes-Benz holds its annual B2C fashion festivals in Kuala Lumpur in March and the recently launched B2B Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week (MBSAFW) capsule event. The MBSAFW is the only Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in South-East Asia and its 30th in the world.
The fashion presentations under the Malaysia Fashion Season (MFS) will unveil country’s best of the best for the coming season and will feature leading and emerging Malaysian creative talents – fashion, accessories, hair and make-up.
The Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week will continue its domination on Asia with “Asia for Asia” bringing designers, celebrities, fashion buyers and international media for the event from over 15 Asian countries.
