The union minister for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), Kalraj Mishra inaugurated the new khadi spinning, weaving and marketing centre, Harmukh Khadi Gram Udyog Sansthan, for Khadi goods in Srinagar.
The Minister also distributed 25 new model charkhas were distributed among local artisans at the function, which was organised khadi and village industries board Srinagar at Soura. “The charkha is a symbol of resistance and can help maximum number of unemployed youth and women in far flung areas to attain economic independence,” Mishra said.
The minister urged the state to come forward and seek maximum help from New Delhi. The centre is ready to provide all sorts of assistance to the state of Jammu and Kashmir in order to remove regional imbalances.
Jammu and Kashmir minister for industries and commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga thanked the union minister for the ministries supportive attitude and helping approach towards Jammu and Kashmir and also requested the central ministry to increase the targets for the state so that it benefits the local artisans.
