Textile minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar has assured Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Kameng Dolo of funds for setting up a textile park in the state, according to an official release.
The state government would be informed as and when the proposal is cleared by the ministry. Gangwar advised Arunachal Pradesh government to submit a detailed project report (DPR) at the earliest, the release said.
Dolo, who also holds the textile and handicrafts portfolio, expressed willingness to set up a weaver service centre in Itanagar so that poor weavers of Arunachal, are benefited. Currently, a Weaver Service Centre at Guwahati has been providing services to the state. Manipur and Nagaland too have such centres.
Gangwar said his ministry would release the second installment under North Eastern Textile Promotion Schemes shortly after completing the required formalities.
The minister said that he would be visiting the state next month to inaugurate the garment manufacturing unit at Pasighat in East Siang district and at that time, he would announce some developmental packages for the state in the textile and handloom sectors.
