In a bid to support Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s Clean India Campaign, few Indian apparel exporters have come forward. It was good to see that despite it being a Sunday, operators and compliance/HR team of Modelama Exports, Gurgaon participated in the campaign and cleaned the 500-metre area outside their factory premises. The company provided all the tools to their team like gloves, broom, etc. for the purpose.
“Our workers committee suggested that we should clean the outside area as it will motivate other companies of Udyog Vihar (Gurgaon) area also. As it was quite a good suggestion, apart from workers middle-level management also became a part of the initiative,” Arvind Rai, director of the company said.
Udyog Vihar is one of the biggest apparel manufacturing hubs of Delhi-NCR where almost 1,000 reasonable size apparel factories are in operation. Almost 150 workers and management members participated in this cleanliness drive. Women workers were also a part of this exercise. The employees also went to a few streets of nearby residential areas and requested the people living there to maintain cleanliness of their houses and surroundings.
