Textiles giant firm Arvind Ltd plans to buy around one million metres of khadi denim every year from Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
An agreement between Arvind Mills Limited and KVIC was signed in Ahmedabad yesterday, the communion in a statement said.
After signing the agreement, company’s executive director Puneet Lalbhai informed that they plan to purchase approximately one million metres of khadi denim every year. Under the MoU, khadi denims and other khadi products made by Arvind Ltd will bear KVIC’s certification mark.
“The deal will not only enhance the khadi’s sales annually by Rs 40 crore but will also increase the economic stability of khadi artisans across India, by providing them Rs 2 crore as extra incentives,” KVIC chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena said.
