The Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA) president, Raja M Shanmugham has sent a letter to State Chief Minister thanking him for exempting e-way bill for jobwork and services relating to fabrics, yarns and apparels. The Tamil Nadu government has not only accepted the request but also understands the Tiruppur knitwear business in the coming years.
TEA has also sent letter of thanks to KC Veeramani, state minister of commercial taxes, and Dr. TV Somanathan, principal secretary/commissioner of state tax, for their support in the e-way bill exemption initiative.
Annually, Tiruppur knitwear cluster produces garments worth of Rs. 42,000 crore due to the support extended by the job working units, Shanmugham said. He claims that before the garments are packed, the products are transported from one place to another for more than 5-6 times for preliminary processes like knitting, dyeing, compacting, embroidery, printing, checking, ironing and packing etc..
The decision taken by the government will help to boost growth momentum for the Tiruppur cluster while noting down the future prospects of Tiruppur knitwear cluster and ease of doing business, he added.
