EIGMEF (Eastern India Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Federation) has forwarded a mail and wish that you are all in best of health and spirit. Since the business activities in general and retail in particular are coming back to life gradually, they feel that it is the right time to interact and solicit your support and help in riding over this difficult time of COVID-19.
This pandemic has severely impacted the entire business eco-system. Garment manufacturing is one industry which is badly affected and shouting out for support at this crucial time when it is facing its worst ever cash flow crunch and crisis due to stagnant inventories.
Considering this grim scenario, Jay Verma, Secretary of the Federation, body of the Garment Manufacturers of Eastern India would like to convey concerns of the Industry. EIGMEF solicit your cooperation and support on below mentioned primary issues as suggested by all brands / members:
1) EIGMEF urge you to support manufacturers by releasing their outstanding payments at earliest without any undue additional deduction or reduction unless offered. So that it helps them to tide over their current cash flow crunch and they become battle ready to fight along with you in the process of rebound.
2) Buyers are requested to ensure that delivered goods are not returned to the manufacturers as this will again dent their existing fragile situation.
3) EIGMEF urge all the buyers to maintain minimum credit period or preferably cash purchase in current times to enable Brand / Manufacturers to revive faster.
These measures are required to be implemented by the Industry and your support will help the Garment Manufacturers fraternity in overcoming this crisis in the short run and to serve the industry with renewed vigor in days to come.
Their Association, EIGMEF is standing resolutely with the members of the industry in this process of business revival. EIGMEF requests all the stakeholders to extend support. This hand-holding is the need of the hour.
