In order to develop Warangal in Telangana as a textile hub, a team comprising of MLAs and officials will visit prominent textile markets across the country in coming week, Warangal MP Kadiyam Srihari said yesterday.
Telangana government has taken initiatives to set up textile units in Warangal and chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has already announced to set up a textile park, Srihari told reporters here.
A team comprising government adviser B. B. Papa Rao, Warangal MP, Wardhannapet MLA Ramesh, Parkal MLA Challa Dharma Reddy and officials of textile department will visit prominent textile industries across the country to prepare a road-map for the purpose.
In the first phase, the team will visit Surat textile industry from January 2-4 and will later tour to Solapur in Maharastra and Tirupur textile market in Tamil Nadu. The team will submit its final report by end of January.
He said that officials have already done the land survey in Hanamkonda, Hasanparthy and Geesugonda mandals and the report has been submitted to the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation.
Nearly 1,899 acres has been identified for the project in the three mandals.
The government is also mulling to setup a textile market for products within the textile park.
“Government is planning to setup textile units for all types of fabric along with the marketing departments within the textile park,” the MP added.
