Altogether 206 students of various batches of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai received the degrees during the two-day convocation ceremony held at CIDCO exhibition centre in Mumbai on May 22.
Eminent personalities like Hema Malini, MP, Narendra Kumar Ahmed, designer, Pradyumna Vyas, director NID, Satya Saran, noted journalist and Nilima rani Singh, director, NIFT, Mumbai were, among others, present at the event.
On the following day students of fashion design and knit wear design showcased their creativity on the ramp at a fashion show, which was choreographed by Lubna Adams. Dilip B. Jiwrajka, managing director, Alok Industries Limited, Pradip Hirani, chairman, Kimaya Fashions Pvt Limited and Sangita Kathiwada, owner and creative director, Melange were also at the show.
As NIFT, Mumbai is involved in reviving the crafts of Maharashtra and bringing them to the mainstream commercial platform and has been constantly trying to upgrade the livelihood of the artisans by teaching them new designs and technics, a walk ‘for the cause of Craft’ was also organised. Several celebrities walked on the ramp with the creation of Pathani weavers of Aurangabad cluster.
