The Indian textile and apparel industry is one of the largest in the world with an enormous raw material and manufacturing base. Apparel industry is also one of the largest employment providing sectors in the country and is a significant contributor to the economy, both in terms of its domestic share and exports.
Today’s global market witnesses’ cut-throat competition. Many new products enter the market, stay for a while, and then go obsolete. Brands create the strongest competitive advantage for the manufacturer, and the retailer. To compete in the domestic as well as the global market, creating, and sustaining a strong brand image is necessary. Some apparel makers attempt to create a brand for their product in the global market, while many others just supply to international buying houses or retail chains according to their specifications. The value of the brand or the ‘brand equity’ is the difference of cash the customer pays fora non-branded garment, and a branded one.
Against this backdrop, the ICC is set to organise AIMS, the summit will provide huge networking opportunities and will be a platform to exchange ideas and will generate new business avenues.
The forum will bring the importance of branding and its significance in the Apparel Sector. The future prospects of apparel Marketing, scopes and challenges in India will be discussed. The convention will witness congregation of 200 stakeholders inclusive of all the leaders, Retailers, Exporters, Manufacturers, Designers, Brand Consultants, Technology solution companies, Trade Bodies, policy makers and other relevant people of the Apparel Industry who will come together to share their opinion on the Industry and the summit objectives.
“Mr Sanjay K. Jain, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Textile Industry will be the Summit Chairman of this prestigious summit and would be delivering the key note in the Inaugural session. It will witness strong participation from the Policy Makers, Government Officials and Industry Leaders. In the forum, few eminent speakers from Government and Industry will share the latest information on the sector,” the organiser said. In addition, the Knowledge partner Wazir Advisors Pvt ltd will be jointly releasing a Knowledge report along with us on “Consumer Trends in Apparel Industry” which will be a valued take-away for all participants & stakeholders attending this Summit.
Apparel sector is the single largest sector which is earning maximum foreign exchange for the nation clocking 15 percent of the country’s exports. Apparel production is labour intensive and hence developing countries although account for a smaller share in textile output but account for a larger share in the labour-intensive production. In our country, Kolkata, Ludhiana and Tirupur are major clusters for knitted garments while Bangalore, Delhi, Gurgaon, Indore, Jaipur, Mumbai and Noida are the concentrated clusters for woven garments.
Today’s global market is changing due to the rapid change in the consumers’ choices, increase in their disposable income, globalization, media exposure, and influence of global and psychological trends attribute to this behavior. In order to sustain and grow in the market, it is necessary for every manufacturer to build a ’brand image’ for his product in the market. This is more important for apparel makers as garments have a short life cycle and trends keep changing every now and then.
