Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik has said that his government has been contemplating to set up two integrated textile parks at Choudwar and Bhadrak.
Laying foundation of Shahi Exports, an apparel exports unit at Mancheswar Industrial Estate in the stateon August 13, Patnaik said the state government has made special arrangement for textile and handloom sectors in the new industrial policy resolution to encourage investment in those segments.
The state government would also come up with a special policy to promote different industrial projects having opportunities for employment, said an official release quoting the chief minister. The industrial policy will also be unveiled very soon. Patnaik said that the textile unit by Shahi Export will help boost the handloom and textile sector in the state.
The promoter is planning to invest Rs 36 crore in the unit. The unit would start production within one year which is targeted to produce more than three lakh clothes per month and will create direct employment opportunity for around 2500 people. Shahi Export has over 48 units across the country.
Hopeful of more investments in the textiles sector, Patnaik said that Shahi Exports’ efforts to set up an export oriented apparel unit the state will encourage others to invest.
