To promote its Tussar industry, Jharkhand chief minister, Raghubar Das has launched a website for online shopping of tussar. The state produces 82 per cent of the tussar available in the country. The chief minister asked Jharcraft, a state government undertaking, to develop its silk brand.
Despite producing 82 per cent of the tussar available in the country, the state does not use much of the raw tussar which is mostly being used by others, the report said. Tussar products and clothing should change with the changing times so that Jharkhand maintains its identity in the tussar sector in the world and becomes a strong market force, Das said.
The chief minister pointed out that the state government was all for promoting tussar industry and added Jharcraft, a state government undertaking for development of silk textiles and handicraft, should work in this area and develop its brand.
Three textile industries had been set up and more investments would come, Das added.
