Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, inaugurated the ‘Khadi India Pavilion’ at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024 in Hall No. 6, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The ceremony was graced by Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), and other dignitaries, including DC(MSME), JS(ARI), and KVIC officials. The Pavilion showcases India’s rich Khadi and Village Industries heritage, featuring participation from artisans and enterprises nationwide.
Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi emphasized the Pavilion’s alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Developed India@2047’. With over 225 exhibitors from various regions, the Pavilion highlights products made by Khadi artisans, PMEGP units, and SFURTI Cluster participants. Shri Manjhi also announced KVIC’s upcoming scheme aimed at modernizing Khadi for the youth, with a focus on young entrepreneurs and fashion designers. Visitors also witnessed live demonstrations of traditional crafts like Desi Charkha, electric pottery, and incense stick production using recycled temple flowers.
The Pavilion provides a unique platform for entrepreneurs in the Khadi and Village Industry sector to reach a vast customer base and explore new growth opportunities. It serves as a hub for promoting self-reliance and showcasing traditional products to a modern audience. The live demonstrations and hands-on displays enrich the visitor experience, emphasizing innovation in preserving heritage crafts.
Adding to the attraction, the theme pavilion by the Center of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK) has become a favorite spot for youth visitors, blending tradition with contemporary designs. The event highlights the transformative potential of Khadi in fostering sustainability, entrepreneurship, and cultural preservation.
