West Bengal’s Finance Minister, Amit Mitra is planning to uplift the readymade garment industry in the state. Recently held, 47th Garment Buyers and Sellers Meet, he proposed a plan to set up a common facility centre to boost the state’s garment sector to reach global standards.
Mitra also urged the West Bengal Garment Manufacturers and Dealers Association (WBGMDA) to work together and boost the state’s Garment and Apparel Industry.
“There will be soon deliberation with the officials of the finance department to develop the garments manufacturing system in the state,” he said.
He suggested organising a ‘kids garment exhibition’ as there is no concept of such an event until now in Kolkata.
