A Niti Aayog committee set up for the purpose, held deliberations with senior officials of national and international online retailers, thereby kick starting the process of reviewing the existing policy for the sector. Earlier in August, the government had set up a 12-member committee chaired by Niti Aayog CEO, Amitabh Kant, to revamp the existing policy by examining the issues in the e-commerce sector and recommend steps to liberalise the sector.
