Bharat Tex 2024 serves as a grand confluence of over 3,000 exhibitors and traders from around 100 countries, with an expected footfall of around 40,000 visitors. The Prime Minister highlighted the event’s role in bridging the past with the present, integrating technology with tradition, and fostering a synergy between style, sustainability, scale, and skill. The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s comprehensive approach to enhancing the textile sector’s contribution towards building a developed India. The focus remains on tradition, technology, talent, and training, aiming to modernize traditional designs to meet contemporary demands. The textile sector’s connection to India’s core pillars – the poor, youth, farmers, and women, was also underscored, highlighting its significance in the nation’s developmental journey.
Government initiatives such as the establishment of seven PM MITRA Parks across various states were discussed. These parks aim to create a holistic ecosystem for the textile sector, offering modern infrastructure and plug-and-play facilities to streamline operations and reduce logistics costs.
The empowerment of women through textiles and Khadi, India’s leadership in cotton, jute, and silk production, and the launch of Kasturi Cotton were other key points of discussion. The Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Vocal for Local and Local to Global’ resonates with the ongoing movement towards embracing local craftsmanship and promoting global outreach.
