Six-day Silk Mark Vanya expo 2015, began today in Kochi, under the initiative of Central Silk Board, and conducted by the Silk Mark Organization of India (SMOI). The main aim of the exhibition is to educate people about the quality of the silk products.
Weavers, silk clothes merchants, co-operative organizations and government departments from the traditional silk producing states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Assam, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala are exhibiting their products at the expo.
Apart from the diverse collection of silk like Kanchipuram, Aarani, Crape, Kantha, Tribal work, Chantheri, Georgette and many more, the Vanya Silk expo is also providing a number of silk products like silk carpets, bedspreads, cushions, wallets and also shirts, churidars and scarves.
The viewers will be able to see the different stages of silkworms, silk extraction and weaving, live for themselves at the expo.
