Chairman of the Tax committee, Khaga, Sajjan Raj Mehta has thanked the finance minister and the textile minister for the step for bringing in one tax throughout the country in the form of GST which will help reduce the multiple tax burden on the common man.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mehta said, now we have discussed in details and feel that uniform rate of GST @ 5 per cent on Garments, Textiles, Fabrics, Threads, Embroidery work or any activity related to job work would be ideal for the textile industry. Main objective of the GST is “one nation -one tax” hence kindly consider the genuine demand to avoid “one item-multiple rate”.
However he made a further request to consider the structure and make it a cost effective and time effective one so that the common dealer can easily file the taxes and returns for the GST.
