Celebrating a decade in the fashion business and returning to the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 after ten years; Varun Bahl unveiled his Diffusion collection presented by Reliance Trends.
Revealing his distinct style statement for each creation, Varun ensured that it was a collection that will be coveted by women globally.
Varun’s understated elegance, aesthetics and luxurious choice of fabrics was the highlight of the show. His design story was replete with India’s opulent crafts and cutting edge construction that reflected western touches and was a visual delight on the ramp.
The line-up of jackets, trousers, skirts and shirts were splashed with timeless hand embroidery. Varun’s signature rose motif appliqués were evident along with a profusion of embroidered flowers and leaves that were splashed creatively on the ensembles.
Fabrics that brought the collection to life ranged from superb silk, sheer tulle, luxurious crepe, duchesse-satin and wonderful cotton. Colours were of prime importance to Varun, which he selected with great care as black, gold, silver, grey, ivory, beige, mustard, rose, pale pink and blue created a Deja vu of his past collections.
Starting the show with a printed poncho coat and black pants, Varun took the presentation gradually up that ladder of glamour with pleated mini skirt, embroidered black/white capris with a satin swing coat. The white tonal textured dress was followed by creations which had silver as the main embellishments, so tank top, peplum jackets and even silver capris were part of the offering.
Zippers played a major role as they appeared on the sleeves of jackets and acted as divisions for the peplums. The simple white shirt was given pride of place with a beaded skirt. A favourite was the gota jacket coated with woven gota strips, while biker jackets were given a feminine twist by Varun and designed with interesting peplums.
A line-up of black will-power ruffled mini with black embellishments was followed by a black skirt with embroidered front.
The final line-up of off-white creations had sensational red lace and thread appliqués as the centre of attraction. This embellishment appeared on long sleeved dress, jacket over silver shift, a sack with placement embroidery and long sleeved gown with an elegant classy option.
For the finale it was the very vivacious and sensational, Bollywood beauty, Priyanka Chopra who gave the sleek black pant suit, quilted cropped peplum jacket and silver shell; a classic appeal as she strutted down the ramp with great aplomb.
For that ultra-glamorous entry that will create a stir on the fashion circuit, Varun Bahl’s Diffusion collection presented by Reliance Trends will make the prefect impact.
