In a glittering celebration of style and innovation, Kolkata’s Eco Park became the epicenter of the apparel industry with the grand opening of the 55th edition of the Garment Buyers & Sellers Meet. This premier event, running until January 10th, showcases the latest in apparel for the upcoming season, marking a significant milestone in the fashion calendar.
The inauguration was graced by the esteemed presence of Sri Sujit Bose, West Bengal’s Fire Brigade Minister. Joining him were dignitaries such as TMC MP & Senior Politician Prof. Sougat Roy as Special Guest, MMSME Joint Director Mr. D Mitra, Assistant Director Mr. Achintya Bhattacharya, and luminaries from the garment manufacturing sector including Mr. B. P. Sultania, Mr. Manoj Gupta, and Nirmal Jain.
Organized by the West Bengal Garment Manufacturers & Dealers Association, the fair boasts participation from 220 apparel manufacturers representing over 900 brands.
Association President Sri Harikishan Rathi highlighted the fair’s growth, noting a 40-50% increase in size over the past few years. Association Secretary, Mr. Devendra Baid, emphasized the burgeoning influence of kids’ garment manufacturers in the Indian market, attributing their success to creative designs, high quality, and competitive pricing.
A significant announcement came from Fire Brigade Minister Sri Sujit Bose, who pledged to discuss with Honorable CM Smt Mamta Banerjee about allocating permanent land for the Association’s future fairs and activities.
Adding to the event’s significance, MSME Directors declared that MSME registered participants could claim reimbursement against participation charges. The fair anticipates a footfall of thousands of buyers from across India, making it not just a business hub but a trendsetter in the world of fashion.
