The Woolmark Company has announced the names of five finalists in womenswear category for its annual International Woolmark Prize 2014/15 ceremony, due to be held in Beijing on March 17.
The shortlisted contestants will showcase their creative excellence, using Australia”s pre-eminent natural fibre Merino, before a jury comprising English fashion designer Victoria Beckham, Angelica Cheung (editor-at-Large), Franca Sozzani (editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia) and British fashion writer, journalist and academic Colin McDowell.
The selected finalists are Vmajor (owned and operated by Chinese designer duo Victor Zhu and Nicole Lin), Augustin Teboul (the ready-to-wear-meets-haute couture label from French name Odély Teboul and German talent Annelie Augustin), M. Patmos (from American design talent Marcia Patmos) and the Beirut-based fashion designer Rayya Morcos” Bird on a Wire brand.
The Australia-based Strateas Carlucci label”s designers “Mario Luca Carlucci” and “Peter Strateas” have been selected for both menswear and womenswear categories. “We”re absolutely thrilled, overwhelmed and grateful for this amazing opportunity,” Carlucci about the brand”s selection for the awards, said.
