This marks a significant step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with the YKK Sustainability Vision 2050.
Commitment to Sustainability
YKK, in collaboration with Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. and Sumitomo Electric Toyama Co., Ltd., has signed a contract for the use of low-carbon aluminum. Commencing in FY2024, YKK will integrate alloy wires made from low-carbon aluminum into its aluminum alloy zippers, gradually expanding their application.
Progress Towards Climate Neutrality
YKK’s sustainability goals encompass climate change, material resources, water resources, chemical management, and respect for people. The company aims to cut Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50% and Scope 3 emissions by 30% by 2030, following the Science Based Targets initiative’s 1.5°C target.
